Good nutrition is important for everyone, but athletes especially experience how not eating and taking care of their bodies properly can affect performance. While the average person needs about 2000 calories a day, the need for female athlete ranges from 2000 to 4000 calories per day according to Kim Tirapelle, a registered dietitian who works with college athletes at Fresno State University. If you are someone who lets good nutrition fall down on the priority list, consider the ways it can impact both your performance and health.
